Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The dialogue between the armies of Moldova and the USA will continue by boosting possibilities of training for National Army’s servicemen at higher education institutions from the United States and exchange of Moldovan-American experience within various joint activities.

A representative of the Agency of Monitoring and Control of the Government Reform Efficiency at the United States Congress, Steve Russell, has made statements to this effect at a meeting with State Secretary at the Defence Ministry, Aurel Fondos.

The U.S. official appreciated the efforts of the leadership of the Defence Ministry and National Army in the process of implementing projects and programmes on modernization of the national defence system, extension and promotion of bilateral cooperation partnerships in the defence sector with development partners, including the USA.

At the meeting, Aurel Fondos thanked the American Government for the assistance provided to the National Army in the field of training, logistic and technical sectors through diverse programmes, as well as other important projects underway for the good of Moldova’s residents, especially through the North Carolina National Guard.

The sides reviewed the present stage of the bilateral ties in the military sector, as well as prospects for its development through the carrying out of new programmes on bilateral cooperation.

The Moldovan-American cooperation in the defence sector is carried out based on a memorandum on cooperation in the military field between Moldova’s Defence Ministry and the Department of Defence of the United States, signed on 4 December 1995.
