Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will provide medical employees with equipment.  The first consignment of medical equipment was delivered to Moldova’s authorities.

According to the UNDP press service, the first batch of equipment, of assistance worth 200,000 dollars, was received by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry. The rest of the equipment will be supplied soon. It will be distributed to the medical institutions which have remained without stocks because of the unprecedented demand, triggered by the outbreak of the pandemic.

„The personal protection equipment, provided by the government of Switzerland, will be distributed to the hospitals, the task of which is to treat the COVID-19 cases in Moldova. The equipment will help the first-line physicians in the work they carry out day by day to isolate and destroy the virus which trigger the COVID-19 disease. This is an effort for which we are extremely grateful to them,’’ the director of Switzerland’s Cooperation Office in Moldova, Caroline Tissot, has said at a donation event.

The first case of COVID-19 was registered in Moldova on 7 March and 298 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed since then.
