More than 3,000 Moldovan citizens repatriated in last weeks

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - More than 3,000 Moldovan citizens have been repatriated in the last weeks. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today made statements to this effect. He unveiled the list of charter flights due to be organized on the next two weeks.  

The Moldovan diplomacy head specified that the heads of all diplomatic missions had been trained about the way the lists for repatriation are compiled. Thus, the students, mothers with children, persons in need of treatment and the ones who remained without income source of place for living will have priority.  

Oleg Tulea noted that the government’s official pages contain the instructions approved by the Commission for Emergency Situations and the way these charter flights function was described in detail there. ‘’The ministry will draw up the lists of requests coming to the diplomatic missions, ministries. The citizens will compulsorily indicate the family name, Christian name, contact data, home address from abroad and in Moldova, email address. We have already started compiling the lists. We have a list with the already made requests. We also have the number of citizens who must be included in the priority lists,’’ Tulea said.

The minister informed that, based on the lists delivered weekly, he would propose the schedule of organizing the flights to Moldova to the Emergency Commission for approval. Also, the air operators offering the best price will be selected transparently. Flights are planned from London, Dublin, Madrid, Lisbon, Paris, Moscow, Rome, Amsterdam and Prague.      

The official also said that work was done for the repatriation of the Moldovan citizens blocked in faraway countries.  Thus, on 2 April, a flight to Dubai will be made, due to carry eight Moldovan citizens home.

On the period of state of emergency (17 March -15 May 2020), the charter flights, which carry Moldovan citizens to Moldova, are authorized by the National Commission for Emergency Situations, based on the request by the National Aviation Authority. The lists of passengers are compiled by the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry.
