China expresses interest in expanding imports of Moldovan agri-food products

Moldovan agri-food products, especially fruits and wines, are gaining increasing interest on the Chinese market, being appreciated for their quality and their potential to become representative elements of Moldova in China. This topic was at the center of today’s discussions between Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Moldova, H.E. Dong Zhihua.

The Chinese side emphasized openness to expanding imports of Moldovan products, particularly encouraging the promotion of table grapes, honey, beef and lamb, as well as other high-value-added agri-food products, which can be competitive on the Chinese market.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the participation of Moldovan producers in exhibitions and topic-related events organized in China, as they are considered essential tools for enhancing the visibility of Moldovan products and facilitating access to one of the largest consumer markets in the world.

For her part, Minister Ludmila Catlabuga reaffirmed Moldova's interest in strengthening and deepening bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, including through experience exchange, technological cooperation and technical assistance. A particular emphasis was placed on adapting agriculture to climate change, one of the most important current challenges for the agricultural sector.

Officials agreed on continuing the dialogue and identifying concrete mechanisms of cooperation, in order to support Moldovan exports and the sustainable development of agriculture, benefiting both sides.
