Minimum salary of 10,000 lei, labor market reform among goals of Moldova's Tofan Government
The minimum salary might reach 10,000 lei by 2030, and the labor market of Moldova is set to be modernized through simplified rules, fair wages and increased protection for employees. These goals are included in the Governing Programme of the Cabinet led by designated Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
“The intended result: higher and fairer incomes, predictable labor relations and a better balance between the adaptability of enterprises and the protection of workers. A predictable increase of the minimum wage, including reaching the amount of 10,000 lei by 2030, and the continuation of wage convergence,” the Governing Programme reads.
The Programme also provides for the transposition of European principles on pay transparency and equal pay between women and men, as well as the strengthening of collective bargaining and social dialogue.
“More people in legal, safe and better-paid employment, through the de-bureaucratization of hiring, a digital employee register, modern forms of work, prevention of workplace accidents and activation-oriented employment services. The minimum wage will increase predictably and active measures will particularly support women, young people, persons with disabilities, citizens returning from the Diaspora, refugees and inactive persons,” the document also reads.
Presently, the national minimum salary in Moldova is 6,300 lei per month for a full-time work schedule, starting from January 1, 2026. The amount was increased by 15 per cent compared to 2025, when the minimum salary was 5,500 lei.
