Moldova at Global Industry Summit: priority for modernization, digitalization, green transition

Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu today  represented Moldova at the Global Industry Summit and the 21st session of the General Conference of UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

In his opening remarks, Minister Osmochescu highlighted the complexity of challenges facing the global economy and the necessity for sustainable industrial transformation, based on coherent government leadership, strong institutions and a capable private sector that can innovate and adapt.

“We reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with UNIDO in the fields of industrial modernization, digitalization, transition to green energy, and quality infrastructure development. These efforts are essential for fortifying the national economy, attracting investments and speeding up European integration,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.

The minister extended congratulations to UNIDO's Director-General Gerd Müller, on his re-election and thanked him for the continuous support provided to member states in promoting global industrial development.

Osmochescu noted that Moldova was ready to advance in preparing the new Country Partnership Programme (PCP), which will serve as a strategic tool for industry’s modernization, competitiveness enhancement and strengthening of long-term economic resilience.

The official concluded by emphasizing that, through international dialogue, investment in innovation and clean technologies, current challenges can be turned into real opportunities for development and prosperity for the citizens of Moldova.
