Moldova showcases investment advantages in Shanghai: 30 major Chinese companies interested in country’s market

The investment opportunities of Moldova have been presented in Shanghai by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi, who took part in the Promotion Conference on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Moldova and China.

The event brought together representatives of 30 Chinese companies active in such areas as imports of agri-food products and wines, producers of construction materials, medical equipment, technologies for renewable energy, digitalized industrial production and companies from the tourism sector.

In his address, Mihai Popsoi presented the investment advantages provided by  Moldova. He noted that the country was strengthening its attractiveness for investors through the digitalization of public services and its firm progress on the path of European integration.

“Moldova, in its capacity of state candidate for accession to the European Union and a beneficiary of free trade agreements with important international partners, can offer a stable environment and efficient access to the European market. We are convinced that these advantages represent a real opportunity for the Chinese business community,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The Moldovan foreign affairs minister encouraged entrepreneurs to capitalize on existing opportunities by developing business partnerships and promoting Moldovan products on the Chinese market.

‘’Moldova is competitive in the production of wines, grapes, plums, apples, cherries, walnuts and other agri-food products. At the same time, our winemaking tradition represents not only an economic sector, but also a part of our national identity,” the official stressed.

Mihai Popsoi also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in the IT sector, in transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as in the field of green energy. “ Moldova is open for business and partnerships. Our country is a reliable partner, with European aspirations and a favorable climate for the development of economic projects,” said the foreign minister.

In conclusion, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi encouraged the promotion of Moldova as a tourist destination and invited participants to visit the country on the occasion of the National Wine Day, due to take place in Chisinau on October 3-4.

For their part, representatives of the participating companies confirmed their interest in cooperating with the Moldovan business community in such areas as agri-food and wine trade, modern agriculture and tourism.
