Moldovan energy regulator publishes draft on regulated natural gas prices; calculated tariff lower than one proposed by supplier

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today published the draft on regulated prices for the supply of natural gas to certain categories of end consumers, in the context of fulfilling the public service obligation.

According to the draft, end consumers would pay a tariff of 13 lei and 35 bani, excluding the value added tax (VAT), for one cubic meter of natural gas, which is by 2.15 lei less than the current tariff and by 0.77 lei less than the tariff included in Energocom’s request.

The publication of the documents takes place at the public consultation stage and does not represent a final decision. The draft is to be submitted for consultation and subsequently examined and approved by ANRE’s Board of Directors, in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.

According to ANRE, the draft is to be examined at a meeting on February 3.

ANRE specified that the examination of the request and the draft decision is being carried out under an emergency procedure, given the specific nature of the public service obligation, while observing the principles of decision-making transparency and the current regulatory framework.

On 29 January 2026, the Energocom joint stock company submitted to the National Energy Regulatory Agency a request regarding the adjustment and approval of regulated prices for the supply of natural gas for the 2026 year. Energocom has asked ANRE to adjust the regulated natural gas prices for 2026.
