Moldova Energy Independence and Resilience Office inaugurated in Chisinau
The Energy Community Secretariat officially inaugurated the office of the Moldova Energy Independence and Resilience (MEIR) project in Chisinau today evening. The office which will support the country in the process of accelerating reform, independence and European integration.
The event brought together Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation Mate Csicsai and the Director of the Energy Community’s Secretariat Artur Lorkowski, along with national authorities of Moldova and international partners, united in order to mark a new chapter of cooperation for the energy future of Moldova.
In his opening speech, Lorkowski applauded the rapid transformation of Moldova's energy sector - from crisis response to EU-aligned reform - highlighting the country's commitment during the years of unprecedented challenges. "The determination of Moldova provides a clear model for effective change. The courage to achieve in a few years what others have taken decades to reach emerged from the crisis. The Secretariat is proud to stand alongside Moldova on this path to a European energy future," Lorkowski said.
