VIDEO // Chișinău International Airport: snowfall and blizzards disrupt flights as snow removal equipment operates continuously

Chișinău International Airport “Eugen Doga” announces that in the context of heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions during this period, all snow removal equipment has been mobilized and is operating without interruption to keep the runway, taxiways, and aprons in safe condition. Airport operations continue according to standard procedures, with a focus on the safety of passengers and aircraft.

“Due to the weather conditions, the following changes have been reported in the flight schedule: Cancelled flights – Bucharest, due to weather conditions at the destination; Istanbul, by decision of the airline, taken in the context of the orange warning issued in the Republic of Moldova. Delayed flights – Bucharest, due to weather conditions; Berlin, due to the late arrival of the aircraft. Other delays may occur as a result of aircraft de-icing procedures, which are mandatory for flight safety. Airport authorities emphasize that de-icing is essential to ensure the aerodynamic stability of aircraft during take-off and landing,” the airport authority explains.

Road access to and from the airport is reported to be good, with snow removal equipment intervening continuously to clear access roads. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport, either through their airline or on the official website www.airport.md/onlinepanel, in order to avoid delays or inconveniences, the cited source notes.

The airport reiterates that the safety of passengers and flight operations remains the main priority, and all procedures are carried out to maintain high security standards even in difficult weather conditions.
