VIDEO // Full mobilization on national roads: AND teams combat ice to keep traffic safe

Traffic on the national roads of the Republic of Moldova continues to be affected by difficult conditions, including frost and ice, and the intervention teams of the National Road Administration (AND) are working continuoudsly to maintain the usability of the road network and traffic safety.

“In the last five hours, more than 139 special vehicles and 91 road workers have intervened across the entire country, covering the northern, central and southern sectors. The roads concerned include Briceni, Dondușeni, Edineț, Ocnița, Florești, Sănătăuca, Soroca, Șoldănești, Drochia, Glodeni, Râșcani, Bălți, Fălești, Sângerei, Orhei, Rezina, Telenești, Călărași, Strășeni, Anenii Noi, Chișinău, Criuleni, Dubăsari, Hâncești, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Căușeni and Ștefan Vodă. Priority interventions have taken place on routes R21, R30, G5, G26, G39, G46, G57, G64, G68, G69, G72 and G103,” AND explains.

The G40 – Sănătăuca route has been cleared, and work is underway to widen the carriageway to facilitate traffic. In total, during the intervention period, 732.9 tons of anti-skid material were used, according to the road authorities.

 

Operational Service of the National Road Administration, available non-stop for traffic safety

The Operational Service of the National Road Administration (AND) ensures continuous monitoring and interventions across the entire national road network, being at the disposal of citizens and authorities for managing difficult situations and road emergencies.

“Calls from road users and authorities are handled promptly, and the operative teams coordinate fast and efficient actions to maintain road safety and keep traffic flowing in difficult conditions. AND Crisis Cell, the Operational Service and the teams of Drumuri company remain mobilized on a continuous basis, ready to intervene without interruption on affected road sections. In the last five hours, the Operational Service has handled 15 calls from citizens, seven notifications via the 112 Service and two calls from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU),” the road authorities say.

AND representatives call on all drivers to drive with maximum caution and to adapt the speed and driving style to road conditions, especially on icy roads or reduced visibility.
