BTA: Bulgaria to Host Opening, First Three Stages of Giro d'Italia Cycling Race in May 2026
The Council of Ministers on Wednesday adopted a decision to hold the Giro d'Italia - Bulgaria Grande Partenza in this country in May 2026, which includes the opening ceremony and the first three stages of the Giro d'Italia cycling race. The Minister of Youth and Sports and the Minister of Tourism will sign a contract with the exclusive rights holders for the race, RCS Sport S.p.A and RCS Sports & Events S.r.l.
Giro d'Italia is a cycling race with over 100 years of history. It combines sport, culture, and tourism with a lasting and positive effect on the host countries both in the short and long terms, the Government Information Service reported.
By hosting such events, Bulgaria has the opportunity not only to attract tourists but also to establish its brand as a year-round, diverse, and competitive destination on the international tourist map, the press release reads.
