BTA: Bulgarian Women’s Team Win World Title in Aesthetic Group Gymnastics in Samokov
The Bulgarian women’s national team won the title at the World Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Championships, which concluded at the SamElyon complex in Samokov, Southwestern Bulgaria.
Karina Neykova, Siyana Tabakova, Hristiana Kovacheva, Viktoria Berova, Yana Staykova, Maria Mehlemova and Katrin Taseva delivered a dominant performance to claim their second world title after Graz 2022. The gold comes on the back of their European Championship title earlier this year in Hungary.
Coached by Kristina Tasheva, the team scored a total of 58.700 points – 29.250 on Saturday and 29.450 on Sunday.
Madonna (neutral status) finished second with 56.800 points (28.500 and 28.300), while Finland’s Minetit placed third with 56.650 (28.300 and 28.350).
The Bulgarian club Akademik shared seventh place with Japan’s JWCPE AGG Team, both finishing on 52.850 points.
National rhythmic gymnastics head coach Vesela Dimitrova attended the women’s competition in Samokov.
The Bulgarian junior national team won bronze medals at the World Championships. Dalia Ivanova, Linoy Georgieva, Andrea Hristova, Adriana Mihaylova, Daria Nacheva, Jaklin Naydenova, Andrea Sarafova and Nikol Zlatkova collected 54.650 points – 27.500 on Saturday and 27.150 in Sunday’s finals.
Gold in the junior event went to Madonna Junior (neutral) with 56.300 (28.150 and 28.150), while Minetit Junior (Finland) took silver with 55.550 (27.800 and 27.750).
Bulgaria’s Akademik Junior placed seventh with 52.750 points (26.800 and 25.950).
A total of 77 teams competed across the women’s and junior categories at the World Championships in Samokov.
The next World Championships will take place in Osaka, Japan, next year.
