Moldovan government's secretary general participates in meeting of working group for Moldova of European Committee of the Regions
Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu today participated in the second meeting of the Working Group for Moldova of the European Committee of the Regions, which brought together over 100 mayors from Moldova and EU member states in Chisinau.
At the event, the head of the State Chancellery spoke about the importance of prioritizing citizens in any administrative reform process: “At the level of the European Union, the right of citizens to good administration it is very clearly established. Any reform, any effort by the Government, the State Chancellery, or local public authorities must be based on this principle. We must fully ensure the citizens of Moldova their right to good administration – cheaper, higher quality services and more prompt interventions.”
At the same time, the government’s secretary general emphasized that progress had been made in the last four years, and the process of administrative reform required continuous and sustained effort. To significantly advance, it is essential to have a constant dialogue and closer collaboration between central and local authorities, in order to overcome obstacles and accelerate the implementation of reforms in the upcoming period.
The Working Group for Moldova of the European Committee of the Regions was established to facilitate political dialogue and collaboration between local authorities of Moldova, the government and European institutions. On this group's platform, local authorities can present their challenges, needs and experiences directly at the European level, thus contributing to better preparation for integration into the European Union and accessing European development funds.
