Cabinet of ministers approved compensation mechanism for 2025-2026 cold season
During the 2025–2026 cold season, families in the Republic of Moldova will receive compensations ranging between 500 and 1000 lei. The cabinet of ministers today approved a decision regarding the method of granting heating compensations for the cold period.
“The minimum value of the compensation remains unchanged, at 500 lei – a stable support intended to provide guaranteed minimum protection to all families eligible to receive compensations. The maximum value is 1000 lei, taking into account technical parameters such as rates, average consumption, and energy market trends. We are close to vulnerable families to support them again this year,” said Natalia Plugaru, Minister of Labor and Social Protection.
As in the previous season, the compensation will be granted as a monetary payment. It will be transferred to the bank card or can be collected from any postal office in the country, only with the presentation of the identity card.
The non-vulnerability criteria have been adjusted, with a new one introduced – income from bank interest, which will not exceed 4000 lei for the previous year. Thus, a more efficient management of compensations will be ensured, better targeting the vulnerable categories.
Compensations will be calculated and offered individually for each household, based on a series of criteria such as income, number of members, heating source, and the status of each member (pensioner, person with disability, student, child). Energy Vulnerability Information System verifies data from the information systems of several institutions: the State Tax Service, the National Social Insurance House, the National Council for Establishing Disability and Work Capacity, the Public Services Agency, energy suppliers, the National Employment Agency, universities, and banking institutions.
From the beginning of the registration period, 780,000 applications have been submitted. Individuals who have not registered on compensatii.gov.md platform by 28 November can still register, but will receive compensations starting from the following month. If the application is submitted after the 25th of the month, compensations will be granted starting from the next month.
For questions related to the registration process, the free call center number 0 8000 5000 is available (Monday-Friday, from 08:00 to 18:00).
With the support of the European Union, starting from February 2025, the government continues to offer electricity compensation directly in bills, for the first 110 kWh consumed. All households in the Republic of Moldova benefit monthly from this compensation.
