Comment on release from illegal detention of citizens from Transnistrian region of Moldova
The Reintegration Policies Bureau welcomes the release from illegal detention of citizens from the Transnistrian region of Moldova, Emilian Ceban and Evghenii Pancioha, who had been deprived of their liberty by the power wielding structures of Tiraspol for many years.
Both cases have been under the constant attention of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, with all possible measures being taken in cooperation with external partners, through the ongoing notification of the political representative in Tiraspol and of the participants in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement.
In our appeals, we have always reiterated the demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all citizens held in illegal detention, the restoration of their fundamental rights and freedoms, the provision of the necessary assistance and the investigation of their cases by the law enforcement bodies empowered by law.
We recall that, in our messages, we always insist on a comprehensive solution to the problem of persecutions and illegal deprivations of freedom in the eastern districts of the country, including by eliminating the grounds on which such abuses and serious violations of human rights are committed.
We will continue to insist on getting positive solutions for the other cases of citizens who are in illegal detention.
