Moldovan parliament speaker, on working visit to USA, says Moldova advocates for Ukraine's territorial integrity, peace agreement due to serve justice to Ukrainian people

Moldova reaffirms its full solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, in the context of the war instigated by the Russian Federation. Statements to this effect have been made at a meeting between Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Keith Kellogg, the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump for Ukraine.

"We advocate for Ukraine's territorial integrity and a peace agreement that serves justice to the Ukrainian people. This is important for lasting peace for the entire European continent," Igor Grosu said in his message.

In discussions, Speaker Igor Grosu also said that Moldova was affected by the war in Ukraine. However, with support from the United States of America, the country has begun to strengthen its energy independence and to bolster its institutions and defense capabilities. In the context, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu appreciated the support provided by the United States in this process.

At the same time, during his working visit to the United States of America, the Igor Grosu met Moldovan citizens residing in Washington. The speaker noted the interest of the Diaspora in current events in Moldova. "I am pleased that this year we managed to implement mail voting in the USA – an action that shows our wish for Moldovans to be more involved in the political life back home," Igor Grosu said. Also, the parliament speaker emphasized that Moldova was distinguished by its people, spread across the globe, who contribute to the country's development even from thousands of kilometers away.

On December 2–10, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is on a working visit to the United States. The visit’s agenda includes meetings with members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, with representatives from the Department of State, the White House, as well as with Moldovans residing in Chicago and North Carolina.
