Moldovan parliament speaker to deliver speech at Parliamentary Summit of International Crimea Platform

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will participate in the fourth edition of the Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform. The event will take place on November 24 and will be hosted by the Swedish Riksdag (parliament). Igor Grosu will deliver a speech addressing the consequences of the war in Ukraine, including its impact on Moldova.

The summit will bring together presidents of national parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations. Ana Calinici, the deputy head of the Commission for European Integration, is also member of the Moldovan parliament’s delegation.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations directorate, the event is organized in order to highlight the consequences of Russia's annexation of Crimea. At the same time, the discussions will cover sanctions, human rights, security, as well as economic and environmental consequences.

In the context, speeches will be given by the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Andreas Norlén, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will provide a video message. Also,  Speaker Igor Grosu will give a speech on the consequences of the war in Ukraine, including its impact on Moldova.

Additionally, in Stockholm, Speaker Igor Grosu has scheduled meetings with counterparts from Bulgaria, Croatia and Lithuania. On November 24 afternoon, the Moldovan parliament speaker will meet Moldovans living in the Kingdom of Sweden.

The Crimea Platform was launched at the governmental level in Kiev in 2021, at an initiative by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is an international forum for consultation and coordination, which takes place at various levels - between governments, foreign ministers, parliaments and inter-parliamentary assemblies, as well as civil society and experts’ communities. The goal is the end of Crimea’s occupation and its peaceful return to Ukraine.
