Moldovan president meets Ukrainian counterpart in The Hague
President Maia Sandu has met President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the sidelines of the diplomatic conference for the establishment of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine, held in The Hague, the Netherlands,
The head of state reaffirmed Moldova's strong support for Ukraine and efforts to restore peace, emphasizing that peace must be dignified and lasting.
The two leaders also discussed advancing the European integration process of both countries, reconfirming their commitment to support each other on this path.
“EU membership will anchor Moldova in the space of peace and stability and will contribute to enhancing Ukraine's security. We stay committed to working alongside our partners for a peaceful, secure and European future for Moldova, Ukraine and the entire region,” said the head of state.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu welcomed the establishment of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine, under the aegis of the Council of Europe, as an essential mechanism for ensuring compensation for the victims and the Ukrainian state following the damages caused by the Russian military aggression.
The International Claims Commission for Ukraine is established during a diplomatic conference in The Hague, the Netherlands, under the aegis of the Council of Europe. Moldova holds the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe as of November 2025 till May 2026.
