Moldovan PM says European integration means benefits, funds, raising standards for agricultural sector
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has congratulated farmers who, through their work, ensure the development of a strategic sector for Moldova and promote domestic products internationally, on National Agriculture and Processing Industry Employees' Day.
The PM said that, in recent years, the agricultural sector had been prioritized, with an emphasis on exports, modern technologies and subsidies for creating high added value. In this regard, about 8 billion lei was been allocated, and the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Environment Development increased by 70 per cent during 2021-2025. At the same time, over 8,000 farmers have been financially supported, of whom almost one third are young and women farmers and more than half are micro-farms.
"We are making these investments and continuing our European Union integration path. For the agricultural sector, this means benefits and funds, but it also means European legislation in the fields of animal husbandry, plant, phytosanitary, organic production and food safety - it means raising standards everywhere," said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The National Agriculture and Processing Industry Employees' Day is annually marked in Moldova on the fourth Sunday of November.
