Defense minister, EU Ambassador to Moldova discuss current security challenges, bilateral defense cooperation

The current security challenges, the importance of the European integration process for the development trajectory of Moldova and bilateral cooperation in the defense field have been analyzed by Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii and Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova, H.E. Iwona Piórko.

Anatolie Nosatii appreciated the EU's support in strengthening defense capabilities through the European Peace Facility (EPF), as a result of which the National Army’s personnel currently benefits from modern and efficient equipment and technology to fulfill missions.

The minister of defense also highlighted the contribution of European partners in facilitating Moldova’s participation in international peacekeeping missions under the EU, such as EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia & Herzegovina and the military training operation in Somalia. The official specified that, by the presence of Moldovan soldiers in such missions, the country reaffirmed its commitment as a security provider and a reliable partner for the global community.

The sides also discussed cooperation within the bilateral partnership in security and defense matters and crisis management at the national level.
