Moldova inaugurated honorary consulate in Denmark

The Republic of Moldova expanded its consular representation in the Kingdom of Denmark by inaugurating, on June 11, the Honorary Consulate in the city of Roskilde. The new consular office will serve the Zealand region and will be headed by Honorary Consul Lasse Schmidt.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the opening of the Honorary Consulate aims to strengthen Moldovan-Danish relations, promote the interests and image of the Republic of Moldova in Denmark, as well as develop dialogue with local and regional authorities. At the same time, the institution will help stimulate economic, cultural, educational and tourism cooperation between the two states.

The new consulate will also play a role in strengthening ties with the Moldovan community settled in Denmark and in supporting projects and initiatives of common interest.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local authorities, the business and academic communities, members of the consular corps, as well as citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in Denmark.

The event also included a program promoting Moldovan culture and traditions. Participants had the opportunity to taste wines from the Republic of Moldova, presented by sommelier Dana Rotaru, who spoke about the country’s wine-making heritage.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Denmark were established on January 20, 1992.
