Moldovan Central Electoral Commission establishes district electoral councils for settlements where new local elections, local referendums are to be held

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today established the district electoral councils for the 12 localities where new local elections and local referendums will take place on 17 May, 2026. The nominal composition of the councils was also approved.

According to the CEC, by March 30, this year, the district electoral councils will convene for their first meeting. They will establish the polling stations by 12 April and will simultaneously perform the duties of the electoral bureau of the respective polling station. In some localities, the electoral bureaus of the polling stations will be established by April 22.

On 17 May 2026, new local elections will be held in the village of Costesti and the commune of Rusestii Noi, Ialoveni district, the village of Mascauti, Criuleni district, the commune of Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti district, the town of Taraclia, Taraclia district, the municipality of Orhei, Orhei district, the village of Topala, Cimislia district, the village of Copceac, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the village of Plop, Donduseni district and the commune of Frumusica, Floresti district.

Local referendums on the recall of the mayors of the village of Hasnasenii Mari, Drochia district, and the commune of Sadac, Cantemir district, will be held on the same day.
