“We discussed how we can continue to build on Moldovan-Dutch relations, including in the context of Moldova’s European integration. I presented the results achieved in implementing the reforms and the priorities for the period ahead. We are counting on the support of the Netherlands for opening the final two negotiating clusters,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The official expressed gratitude for the support provided to the European path of Moldova, including development assistance and expertise in the areas of justice reform, the rule of law and combating hybrid and cyber threats.

“I am pleased to find in The Hague partners who support the European future of Moldova and are open to developing joint projects for the benefit of our citizens,” Mihai Popsoi emphasized.

As for the parliamentary relations between the two countries, the sides welcomed the dialogue between the two institutions and highlighted the role of the legislatures in advancing reforms and joint projects for the benefit of both countries’ citizens.

The Moldovan diplomacy head emphasized the importance of the European Commission’s Enlargement Package, expected on November 4, 2026, which will present the progress made by the candidate countries, including Moldova. At the same time, a roadmap dedicated to the country will be presented, providing an indicative timeline, deadlines and concrete goals for advancing the accession negotiations.

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Thom van Campen reaffirmed support for the European path of Moldova. The official also praised the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities to protect democratic processes and combat disinformation and hybrid threats.
