Moldovan president says Moldova's citizens can be proud of those who make sure we are safe
President Maia Sandu today in Chisinau took part, alongside President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, in the military parade dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Moldova.
The head of state said that the parade proved the progress made in modernizing the institutions responsible for the country’s security. According to Maia Sandu, they now have better trained personnel, modern equipment and structures capable of cooperating with similar institutions in European states.
“We have people who are increasingly well trained, modern equipment and structures that have broken away from old Soviet standards, now being able to cooperate with colleagues from European states,” Maia Sandu wrote in a post.
The Moldovan president stressed that the Republic of Moldova must strengthen its defense capacity while maintaining peace.
“A peaceful Moldova needs a Moldova capable of defending its peace. That is why, we continue to invest in security and to strengthen our partnerships,” the head of state said.
The military parade was also attended by soldiers from more partner states of the Republic of Moldova: the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the United States of America and Ukraine.
Maia Sandu welcomed the presence of foreign soldiers, noting that it is a sign of solidarity and cooperation.
The Republic of Moldova proclaimed its independence on 27 August 1991, when the Parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence.
