PHOTO // Deputy Prime Minister in talks with American Congressmen and Senators in Washington

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, along with Speaker Igor Grosu held several meetings with American officials during their visit to Washington. The discussions focused on deepening Moldova-U.S. strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in security, in light of the current regional situation.

During the visit, the officials met with Congressmen Brian Mast (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Tim Burchett (R-TN), William Keating (D-MA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Dina Titus (D-NV), as well as Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Angus King (I-ME), and Mike Rounds (R-SD).

Popșoi appreciated the good cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America in various fields of activity.

“I thanked the United States for its constant support and highlighted the importance of close cooperation based on common values and interests. I emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in the Republic of Moldova remains an important pillar of regional security,” stated Mihai Popșoi.

American congressmen and senators reaffirmed “the strong support of the United States for the Republic of Moldova and Chișinău authorities efforts to strengthen national resilience and security.”

On 1-9 December, Popșoi is on a working visit to the United States of America. He will meet with representatives from the U.S. Congress, the White House, the National Security Council and the Department of State.

On 6 December, Popșoi will meet with the Moldovan community in Chicago and visit two companies managed by Moldovan citizens.

On 7–8 December, the Deputy Prime Minister will be in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he will meet with Governor Josh Stein, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, and will have discussions with Moldovan citizens residing in the region. The Republic of Moldova and North Carolina enjoy a solid partnership and exemplary cooperation lasting over 25 years.
