President condemns Russia's attacks on Ukraine and violation of Moldova's airspace
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu has strongly condemned Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine and denounced the overflight of Moldova's airspace by Russian drones.
In a post on platform X, Sandu described the 10-hour attack launched this week on Ukrainian territory as “brutal,” emphasizing that such actions cannot be associated with diplomatic language or the stance of a country claiming to negotiate peace.
“On their way to killing civilians, Russian drones once again violated Moldovan airspace, forcing its temporary closure. We condemn these attacks and stand with Ukraine,” wrote Maia Sandu.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the drone and missile attack on the capital Kyiv killed at least one person and injured seven others. Residential buildings in several districts were hit, and loud explosions were heard throughout the city. Earlier this week, a similar attack on Kyiv killed seven people. A drone attack in the night from Saturday to Sunday hit the city of Vyshhorod, near the capital Kyiv, resulting in the death of one person and injuring 19 others, including a child. The information was confirmed by Ukrainian authorities, who warned that the casualty toll could rise as intervention operations continue.
On the night of November 28-29, two Russian drones flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. The incident prompted authorities to temporarily close air traffic and mobilize security structures for checks in the north of the country.
Maia Sandu reaffirmed Moldova's support for Ukraine and condemned any action that endangers civilian safety and air traffic.
