Regional security issue discussed at White House

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, along with Speaker Igor Grosu held a meeting at the White House with Deputy National Security Advisor Andy Baker, Senior Director for Europe and Russian Affairs at the National Security Council Charles McLaughlin and Director for European Affairs National Security Council Sarah Beebe.

The discussions focused on cooperation in security and defense, strengthening institutional resilience, and addressing the challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova in the context of regional developments.

Mihai Popșoi emphasized that despite pressures, Chișinău authorities have managed to maintain peace and prevent any attempts at destabilization.

'The Republic of Moldova has become more prepared and resilient thanks to the consistent support of international partners. Today, our country is a reliable partner and an important player in maintaining regional security,' said Mihai Popșoi.

Another topic of the meeting was cooperation in the energy security, including American investment opportunities in the energy sector - an essential element for the energy independence and economic stability of the Republic of Moldova.

On 1-9 December, Popșoi is on a working visit to the United States of America. During this, the official will meet with representatives of the US Congress, the White House, the National Security Council and the State Department.

On 6 December, Mihai Popșoi will meet with the Moldovan community representatives in Chicago and will visit two companies managed by citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

On 7-8 December, the Deputy Prime Minister will be in Raleigh, North Carolina, to meet with Governor Josh Stein, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, and will speak with Moldovan citizens residing in the region. The Republic of Moldova and North Carolina enjoy a solid partnership and exemplary cooperation that has lasted for over 25 years.
