Romania’s support for Moldova’s EU accession reaffirmed in Bucharest: Moldovan Ambassador has discussions Romanian PM

Ambassador of Moldova to Romania Mihai Mitu has had an introductory meeting at the start of his mandate with Romania’s Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan. The Romanian PM conveyed a firm message, assuring that Romania would continue to provide constant support for Moldova’s process of accession to the European Union, as well as in the economic and security fields, the diplomatic mission said.

During the meeting, the Romanian side also reiterated its readiness to provide concrete support, including institutional expertise, for the reform efforts undertaken by the Moldovan authorities.

Ambassador Mihai Mitu expressed gratitude for the multidimensional support provided by Romania, highlighting its essential role in strengthening the resilience of Moldova, particularly in the context of the challenges triggered by the war in Ukraine.

The diplomat also stressed that assuming his mandate in Bucharest represented a special responsibility, given that the bilateral relations had reached an “unprecedented” level.

According to the Embassy of Moldova in Romania, the meeting reconfirmed the shared commitment to deepen the strategic partnership. The discussions also focused on the status of joint interconnection and infrastructure projects, including the development of energy and transport links, as well as improving conditions at border crossing points.
