Speaker welcomes Bucharest residents' commitment to democracy and community projects
Speaker Igor Grosu conveyed a congratulatory message to Ciprian Ciucu for being elected as Mayor of Bucharest.
“Yesterday's vote shows the commitment of Bucharest residents to democracy and the continuity of important community projects,” Grosu stated.
The official wished Ciprian Ciucu success in implementing the responsibilities and projects aimed at community development, highlighting the role of stability and continuity for the benefit of citizens.
Yesterday, PNL candidate for the position of Mayor of Bucharest Ciprian Ciucu won the elections with 36.16%.
Anca Alexandrescu, supported by AUR, picked up 21.84% of the votes. The third place went to PSD candidate Daniel Băluță with 20.51%, and the fourth place went to USR candidate Cătălin Drulă with 13.90%. Ana Ciceală received 5.85% of the votes. The remaining candidates in the race had less than 0.3%.
The voter turnout in Bucharest was 32.71%, with 589,918 votes recorded.
On Sunday, elections were held in Romania for mayor of Bucharest, president of Buzău County Council, as well as for mayors in one city and 11 communes.
