Winter conditions on national roads: road workers intervene in several districts

Traffic on the national roads of the Republic of Moldova is taking place in winter conditions, following the weather situation of recent hours.

According to the National Road Administration, in the Northern area the roadway is wet, in places snow-covered and ice, while in the Central and Southern regions the roads are wet. In this context, road workers intervened during the night and continue this morning with preventive works to combat slipperiness, in order to maintain road safety and the viability of national roads.

Interventions took place on several road sections in the districts of Ocnița, Soroca, Dondușeni, Briceni, Rîșcani, Edineț, Florești, Drochia and Șoldănești. During the night, 32 special vehicles and 17 road workers were involved. At the same time, 153 tons of salt and 25 tons of anti-skid material were used.

The authorities warn that on certain road sections, weather conditions may favor the formation of ice and recommend that road users exercise increased caution. Drivers are urged to obtain information in advance about road conditions, to follow the authorities’ instructions, and to ensure that their vehicles are properly equipped for driving in winter conditions.
