Moldovan citizens who have worked legally in Canada will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits. The presidential decree approving the signing of the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Canada was published today in the Official Journal.
According to the document, Moldovan citizens are expected to receive old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by general health conditions, pensions and allowances for disabilities resulting from work accidents or occupational illnesses, as well as survivor pensions or other benefits, established according to the provisions of the agreement.
The presidential decree comes into effect upon the publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
So far, the Republic of Moldova has signed Social Security Agreements with 20 countries, 18 of which have come into effect and are applicable. These are Social Security Agreements signed between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Austria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Kingdom of Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey, Belarus, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Latvia.
