Increased number of patients with injuries in Moldova: dozens of people hospitalized at Emergency Medicine Institute
Over 200 people with injuries by 14:30 have come to the Emergency Reception Unit of the Emergency Medicine Institute of Chisinau, due to unfavorable weather conditions and the formation of ice on sidewalks. Dozens of them needed hospitalization.
According to the medical institution, 220 patients with various types of injuries were examined and investigated. Thirty five of them were admitted for treatment, and 11 patients who suffered severe fractures underwent emergency surgical interventions.
In the context of the growing number of presentations, the institution’s management ruled to increase medical staff, in order to handle the high patients’ flow and ensure the provision of the necessary medical care.
Representatives of the Emergency Medicine Institute noted that waiting times had increased, because of the large number of requests and apologized to patients for possible delays, while also thanking them for their understanding.
Physicians warn that the ice that has formed on sidewalks and roadways increases the risk of injuries and recommend that the population exercise increased caution when moving about, in order to prevent accidents.
