Individuals can register till November 28, to receive compensation for current month; Moldovan labour minister says assistance to be provided individually for each household
People can register on the platform www. compensatii.gov.md till November 28, in order to benefit from energy compensation for the current month. Subsequently, authorities will start the process of data verification, to determine the value of aid provided to citizens. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru has made statements to this effect.
According to the official, monetary compensations will be granted individually for each household.
"We are finalizing the registration period on November 28, so we have a few more days. After that, data in the system regarding beneficiaries, income levels and their sources will be analyzed, in order to be able to present exact figures concerning the number of beneficiaries and the compensations allocated. They will be provided individually for each household. There is no average amount for each household; it is established based on income, status and degree of disability," said Natalia Plugaru.
The minister assured that, even in this cold season, the government would stand by the citizens, in order to minimize the impact of tariff increases from the end of last year.
"Over the past years, the government of Moldova has been by the side of its citizens. We have invested over 10 billion lei during this period and will certainly continue to support people this season, in order to cover the tariff increase. The money directed towards compensations is from the state budget. At the same time, we are negotiating with donors to provide us with support, as they have done over the past three seasons," Natalia Plugaru noted.
The Help at the Meter programme provides, for the fourth consecutive year, energy compensations to vulnerable households, for the period November-March. The process of application for energy compensations started on November 3. People who do not have internet access or encounter difficulties registering on the platform can fill in the application with the help of social workers or specialists from unified service centers.
Household consumers can benefit from compensations, if they heat their homes with natural gas, thermal energy, electricity or solid fuel, such as wood, coal, pellets or briquettes. Compensations will be provided in the form of monetary payments, made monthly. Beneficiaries can receive the money on a social card—if they also receive other state allowances, at any post office in the country, or in a bank account opened in the name of the primary applicant.
In the 2024-2025 cold season, the authorities allocated a budget of 2.69 billion lei, of which 1.15 billion lei was provided by partner countries, mostly members of the European Union. In total, over 760,000 families, approximately 1.4 million people, benefited from financial support in the previous season.
