Law on repatriation of goods to be extended
The Action and Solidarity Party /PAS/ faction announced the registration of a bill to extend the application criteria of the Law on repatriation of goods, allowing more Moldovan citizens choosing to return home to repatriate their goods, including personal vehicles.
At a press conference, several deputies from the majority parliamentary faction noted that the new amendments include: increasing the age of eligible vehicles from 9 to 12 years; raising the maximum value of the vehicle from 400,000 to 550,000 lei; increasing the engine capacity of the vehicle from 2,500 cm³ to 3,000 cm³.
An additional provision states that the person repatriating goods will have to sign a declaration of responsibility, committing to remain in the country for three years as a resident.
After the adoption of the law, the Government will also simplify repatriating household goods.
PAS deputy Valeriu Robu encouraged diaspora citizens to return home.
“Now is a good opportunity to return home, invest, and contribute to building a Moldova you want to live in. We left an impoverished Moldova; today we have the chance to return and develop the country,” the official stated.
PAS deputy Alic Baraboi said that the draft law is a materialized electoral commitment. He noted that about 400 citizens have already benefited from the provisions of the current law.
