Moldova's Border Police reports significant increase in number of cases of forged electronic visas

The Border Police warn individuals about a significant increase in the number cases of presenting forged electronic visas at the state border. In the context, citizens are urged to exercise caution and to request visas only through official channels.

Thus, in last November, border police officers identified 23 forged electronic visas, all detected on entry to Moldova at the Eugen Doga International Airport – Chisinau.

To prevent and discourage these illegal practices, the Border Police recommend that travelers avoid unauthorized intermediaries and unofficial websites that promise visas for a fee.

"Verify the authenticity of the visas, including electronic ones, and ensure they are issued by the competent authorities of the destination state. Also, show patience and understanding towards the procedures and controls carried out by border police officers, meant to ensure the security of all passengers," said the Border Police.

In the context, the border authority reminds that the use or presentation of forged travel documents constitutes an offense and is punishable according to the legislation of Moldova.
