Moldova strengthens dialogue with EU in education, research, innovation sectors

The Republic of Moldova is strengthening its dialogue with the European Union to speed up cooperation in education, research, innovation, and skills development for a modern economy. In this regard, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun is paying a working visit to Brussels on November 12-14, 2025, where he has scheduled meetings with representatives of European institutions.

During the visit, the minister has planned discussions with European commissioners, directors-general of the European Commission's directorates, as well as with members of the European Parliament involved in the fields of industry, research, energy, youth, culture, and skills. The dialogue aims to expand access for Moldovan institutions to European programs, strengthen academic and scientific partnerships, and facilitate mobility for pupils, students, teachers, and researchers.

The program also includes participation in the European Education Summit - the most important annual platform for discussions on the future of education in Europe. At the Summit, the minister joined high-level discussions on skills for the economy of the future, the role of education in the development of democracy, partnerships between schools and the private sector, and how educational systems can adapt to the accelerated changes in the labor market. Also, at the event, the minister took part in a panel on economic challenges and the role of education in ensuring a competitive workforce.

The bilateral meetings scheduled at the European Commission and the European Parliament headquarters aim to deepen cooperation in research and innovation, identify funding opportunities for Moldovan institutions, and promote structured dialogue on the modernization of the educational system and its alignment with European policies in skills, digitalization, and inclusion.

According to the 2025 Enlargement Report, published on November 4 by the European Commission, Moldova has made significant progress in its European journey. Our country has achieved the most progress among all candidate states and ranks well-prepared in education, science, research, youth, and sport (chapters 25 and 26).
