Moldovan deputy PM speaks about road conditions at TV programme

Road maintenance crews are working continuously on all roads across the country. Over 120 trucks are involved in the operation, in order to ensure safe traffic conditions. Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea today evening made statements to this effect at a TV show broadcast on Jurnal TV.

The official emphasized that currently there were no blocked roads, but there are segments that had been closed, in order to prevent road accidents.

“On this period, road crews are intervening continuously. All roads are being cleared. Over 120 trucks are involved in the work process. In the 39 territorial units, snow removal and anti-skid operations are carried out. Workers are active 24 hours a day on all routes in the country. At present, there are no blocked roads. There are road segments that have been closed for certain types of transport, in order to prevent road accidents,” Vladimir Bolea said.

The National Roads Administration today evening announced that, due to heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions, visibility was reduced and working conditions are difficult.

Because of the unfavorable weather conditions, the authorities have imposed traffic restrictions for heavy-duty transport until February 19 at 06:00. The measures were adopted, in order to prevent road incidents and to ensure the safety of road users, as well as to allow specialized services to intervene efficiently.

Under these difficult weather conditions, the authorities recommend that drivers avoid traveling unless strictly necessary, exercise increased caution in traffic, and adapt their speed to road conditions. People are also urged to follow official sources to stay informed about updated road conditions and any restrictions.
