Over 1,500 consumers cut off power due to bad weather
A total of 1,558 consumers in central and southern Moldova were cut off power on February 18, 2026, following bad weather.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Premier Energy Distribution reported outages in six districts of the country. According to the operator’s data, outages were recorded in Vulcănești district, where five localities were affected: the town of Vulcănești and the villages of Etulia, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Cișmichioi and Iujnoe.
To repair the damage caused to the power grid, 19 intervention crews were activated, each team consisting of between two and five people, depending on the specifics of the work.
The operator reported that six sections of 10 kV overhead power lines could not be inspected during the night due to snow-covered and impassable roads, which hindered the interventions.
In the northern part of the country, RED-Nord announced that no power outages were recorded.
The authorities are monitoring the situation, and intervention teams are continuing the work to restore power supply in the affected localities.
