The Moldovan parliament’s building today evening was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine and support for the Ukrainian people. The action marks four years since the beginning of the war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
On the parliament square, candles were lit and arranged in the shape of the word “peace”. In the context, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu delivered a message of support for the Ukrainian people.
“On the night of February 23 to 24, 2022, the Ukrainian people were awakened by the noise of war. For four years, for more than 1,400 days, people in Ukraine have been living in cold, in darkness, far from home or under the threat of bombs. For four years, Ukraine has been fighting bravely for freedom, for its country and for its future. From the very first day, we condemned the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation and we remain steadfast in supporting the Ukrainian people. As a sign of solidarity, the parliament of Moldova this evening is illuminated in the colors of Ukraine – colors of courage, dignity and hope – colors that will prevail,” said Igor Grosu.
Ukraine was attacked by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022. Since the beginning of the war, Moldova has received the highest number of Ukrainian refugees per capita in Europe. On this period, refugees have benefited in our country from social, medical and educational assistance, as well as the possibility to enter the labor market.
