PHOTO-VIDEO // New details about weapons found in truck at Albita customs of Romania: accompanying documents listed ''metal waste''
Romanian police today detained a 37-year-old Moldovan citizen, suspected of having set up an organized criminal group, aggravated smuggling, and using false documents at the customs authority. Prosecutors are set to request the Iasi Tribunal to place the detained person in pre-trial detention for 30 days.
According to the evidence presented, the man allegedly joined a cross-border organized criminal group specializing in arms and ammunition smuggling destined for Israel.
At the same time, the Romanian Police say that, on November 20, during a customs inspection at the entry into Romania (Albita customs), the suspect was found driving a vehicle combination made up of a truck tractor and trailer.
The following things were discovered in the truck:
• 18 portable anti-tank rockets
• 8 anti-tank grenade launchers
• a portable air defense system
• drone parts
To avoid detection during the inspection, the accompanying documents showed that the cargo consisted of metal waste.
On the same purpose, the weapon elements were wrapped in metal foils, textile elements, and placed in wooden boxes.
