The Romanian Language Day will be marked in Ukraine on August 31. A decree to this effect has been signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He made statements on the matter at a news conference held in Bucharest jointly with Romanian President Nicusor Dan.

“I have signed a decree on the establishment of Romanian Language Day in Ukraine, which will be marked each year on August 31. In Romania, there is already a Ukrainian Language Day – celebrated on November 9,” said Volodymyr Zelensky, who is paying a visit to Romania today.

The Romanian Language Day has been celebrated in Moldova since 1990, and starting from 2012, this holiday has also been marked in Romania.

According to statistics, the Romanian language is spoken by about 28 million people worldwide and is taught in schools in 43 countries.
