Trucks' traffic temporarily restricted at Costesti customs post of Moldova, over icy conditions

The movement of heavy trucks entering Moldova through the Costesti customs post is temporarily restricted, due to adverse weather conditions that have led to the formation of ice on the national road Rascani–Costesti.

According to the Customs Service, the layer of ice formed in the area of the customs post is affecting road safety, which is why the authorities ruled to temporarily limit trucks’ access until driving conditions improve.

During the restrictions, heavy vehicles will be parked safely in the customs control area of the Costesti customs post, until traffic can be safely resumed.

Representatives of the Customs Service recommend that drivers stay patient, follow official information communicated by the authorities and comply with the instructions of the personnel involved in managing the situation.

The restrictions were imposed in the context of recent weather conditions, characterized by low temperatures and precipitation that favor the formation of black ice and ice on the roadway, a situation that can hinder traffic and increase the risk of road accidents.
