Two prosecutors pass external evaluation in Moldova
The Prosecutors’ Evaluation Commission proposes the successful external evaluation of Elena Cazacov, interim deputy chief prosecutor of the Chișinău Municipality’s Prosecutor's Office and head of the Representation Office in court, and by Ghennadi Epure, deputy director of the National Justice Institute. The evaluation reports today were sent to the subjects of evaluation and the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP).
The panel A of the Commission analyzed in detail the relevant information for assessing the ethical and financial integrity of the subjects. Besides, the Panel asked for clarifications through written questions - three rounds for Elena Cazacov and five for Ghennadi Epure - and notified both prosecutors about the identified doubts, which were later discussed at public hearings.
Prosecutor Elena Cazacov requested that certain aspects mentioned in the hearing notice be discussed at a closed session, invoking the protection of private life. The Panel partially granted the request. In addition, aspects related to pending litigation were also discussed at a closed session.
In the case of Prosecutor Ghennadi Epure, questions concerning ongoing cases were similarly heard in a closed session.
Following the evaluation, the Panel found that both prosecutors met the integrity criteria. The reports will be made public after examination and adoption of decisions by the CSP and after the expiration of the legal challenge period.
