VIDEO // Enhanced waste management infrastructure in Ruseni village, Anenii Noi: individual bins for residents

In Ruseni village, Anenii Noi district, the distribution of individual bins for household waste collection at the source has begun, a new activity to develop local waste management infrastructure. The action is part of the project 'Consume Responsibly - Sort and Recycle,' implemented by Anenii Noi - DOR Association.

The bins were purchased from a grant fund provided by the Small Grants Program for NGOs, managed by EcoContact, under Green Justice for a Protected Environment and Sustainable Communities in the Republic of Moldova project, funded by Sweden.


'The project plans to distribute 140 bins at the community level. In the first stage, 30 households in Ruseni village, selected based on sanitation contracts and vulnerability criteria, have benefited. Priority was given to pensioners' households, people with disabilities, vulnerable families, and families with many children. The distribution of bins will continue in the coming period,' explains EcoContact.


This activity is part of a broader set of actions aimed at preventing and reducing the amount of waste generated at the household level, as well as promoting organized collection and waste sorting at the source.


'Additionally, the project includes measures for composting organic waste and initiating separate collection of plastic waste at the community level. In this context, two practical workshops dedicated to organic waste recycling were organized, and a special bin for collecting small and medium-sized electronic waste was installed inside the village Culture House,' the cited source indicates.


In the next stage, with the support of legal experts from the Local Environmental Platforms, a public consultation session regarding the update of the local sanitation and territory arrangement regulations will be organized.

Through these actions, the project contributes to the development of local waste management infrastructure and increases the level of environmental awareness and responsibility within Ruseni village community.
