VIDEO // Localities of Roșcani, Telița and Calfa approved final decision on voluntary amalgamation

The localities of Roșcani, Telița and Calfa in Anenii Noi district have approved the final decision on voluntary amalgamation, after the local councils voted in favor of establishing a joint administrative-territorial unit.

Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu made the statement today.

According to the official, the three city halls were among the first in the country to initiate the amalgamation process and went through all the necessary stages before the adoption of the final decision.

“Today the Local Council has taken the decision on amalgamation, the final decision. We discussed what we are going to do next, what the development priorities are. We listened to the opinions of councilors and mayors, who have ambitious plans for their localities,” said Alexei Buzu.

Representatives of the local administrations state that the amalgamation will allow attracting additional investments and implementing infrastructure projects. Among the priorities announced are the modernization of roads, the development of water supply systems and the improvement of conditions in public institutions.

One of the mayors specified that the incentive funds provided by the Government will be used for the rehabilitation of the locality’s water pipeline network, based on an already developed technical project. Another mayor announced that the financial incentive granted by the Executive will be directed in full towards modernizing the road infrastructure in the localities involved in the amalgamation process.

Alexei Buzu praised the way the consultation process was carried out in the three localities, noting that public debates and consultations with residents were organized, including with young people, the elderly, employees and the business community.

The new city hall will benefit from 12 million lei for investments in services and infrastructure.

So far, around 790 city halls in the country are involved in the voluntary amalgamation process.

In late January, the Government announced the launch of the preparation process for the local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize the administration and improve public services. Subsequently, the authorities organized extensive public consultations, following which the concept of the reform was presented.

Recently, Parliament approved legislative amendments that simplify and improve the process of voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units. According to the authorities, the changes were developed after consultations in which more than 4,500 mayors and citizens participated. At present, more than 400 decisions to initiate the voluntary amalgamation process have been approved at the national level.
