VIDEO // Mass disorder preparation case in Moldova: 35 individuals previously trained in Serbia prosecuted by law-enforcers
A total of 35 individuals are prosecuted in a case related to the preparation of mass disturbances and disorders on the territory of Moldova. These individuals were allegedly trained under the supervision of foreign instructors at a camp in the city of Banja Koviljaca in Serbia.
According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), since last July, an organized group of people has allegedly acted with direct intent and in exchange for financial benefits, in order to carry out large-scale illegal activities.
"Their goal was reportedly to create a climate of social tension, followed by the triggering of violent protests aimed at affecting public order and the safety of Moldovan citizens," said the IGP.
Following the gathering of evidence, law-enforcers today conducted over 50 searches targeting the 35 individuals. These individuals are aged between 21 and 54 years and reside in Chisinau and the regions of Stefan Voda, Soldanesti, Telenesti, Soroca, Drochia, Straseni, Ialoveni, Hancesti, Orhei and Ceadar-Lunga.
During the raids, mobile phones with information relevant to the investigation, SIM cards, bank cards, some issued by financial institutions of the Russian Federation, foreign currency including 3,350 dinars, over 20 biometric passports with stamps of crossing the border with Serbia, radio stations, a binocular, a replica AK assault rifle, cartridges of various calibers for lethal and non-lethal weapons, as well as other relevant evidence were seized.
Law-enforcers continue investigations, in order to establish all circumstances of the case.
