Vadim Crețul wins gold at World Powerlifting Championships for blind athletes
Representatives of the Republic of Moldova, Vadim Crețul (75 kg) and Nicolae Bondarev (90 kg), made history at the World Championships for powerlifting and bench press for blind and visually impaired athletes, held in Mersin, Turkey. The most significant achievement was by Vadim Crețul, who won the gold medal in the sub-junior category in the bench press event, bringing the first world title for our country.
In addition to this achievement, the two athletes from the National Teams Training Sports Center also won the bronze medal in the bench press event, seniors category, and the silver medal in the triathlon event.
The championship brought together about 67 athletes from 9 countries, and the performance of the Moldovan team marks an important moment for Paralympic sport and powerlifting in the Republic of Moldova.
