PHOTO GALLERY // Moldovan capital kicks off winter holidays
The winter holidays today were officially kicked off with the lighting of festive lights and the inauguration of the Christmas Tree on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in the center of Chisinau. A stage for performances, topic-related photo zones, decorative elements, Santa's House, carousels for children and an ice rink have been set on PMAN.
Authorities announce an extensive programme of cultural and artistic activities, which will take place until January 18, 2026.The events will be held in the main central areas: the Great National Assembly Square, the Holy Gates Square, the Square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as in all districts of the municipality.
The Christmas fairs on PMAN and the Cathedral Square will operate during December 5, 2025 – January 18, 2026, offering visitors holiday-specific products, traditional Moldovan dishes and recreational services. Similar fairs will also be organized in the city's districts.
Throughout December and early January, more topic-related concerts are planned. A concert dedicated to the new-style Christmas Eve will take place on December 24, as of 17:00 till 22:00, on the Great National Assembly Square. The New Year's Eve show will be held on December 31, starting at 19:00 also on PMAN. At the same time, on January 6, 2026, a concert dedicated to the old-style Christmas Eve will be organized on the Square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral.
