Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) lifted restrictions on meat deliveries to the Russian market imposed on enterprises from Moldova. The decision was taken four days after a team of experts from Moscow inspected four Moldovan enterprises exporting animal products to the Eurasian Customs Union member states market.

According to the Russian phyto-sanitary service, the meat exported by a Drochia-based enterprise to Russia has undergone a thorough laboratory control after some batches were found exceeding the permissible quantity of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms.

Beef from enterprises of Bardar, central Ialoveni district, also underwent a strict laboratory control in July, after bacteria of the colibacillus group had been found in a batch.

A joint commission of similar institutions from Russia and Belarus inspected and monitored jointly with local specialists, four farms and a slaughterhouse for five days last week. The experts did not offer comments at the end of their visit on 17 October. The inspection’s results will be officially unveiled to the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) after the final report is considered by the Federal Service, said an ANSA representative.

More cases of temporary cessation of exports of meat and meat products, made by Moldovan producers to the Russian market, were registered this year.

Over 10 Moldovan enterprises are entitled to export livestock products to the Russian market.
